Sometimes people forget to check their spelling. Here are some of the more delightful mistakes that have made it into EU documents. Indeed, some of the mistakes improved the documents.
- Instead of describing a powerful private sector lobbyist as an ‘EU Influencer’, someone described him as an ‘EU Effluencer’.
- A PR company stated it was going to lead a ‘pubic relations’ effort for the European Parliament.
- The introductory part of a Parliament study that featured a picture of President of the Parliament was called the ‘Peeface’.
- A European Commission press release wrote that: ‘The European Omission will…’.
- A press release by a European political party urged the European Commission to come up with a ‘…more manure policy approach’.
- A statement by the anti-fraud agency OLAF said that national authorities had ‘prostituted hundreds of cases’.
- A job ad for an NGO stated that the chosen candidate would get ‘first hand job experience’.
